Gotham, this is your liberation!
The powerful and wealthy will be ripped from their decadent nests
Q: The Batman fans are pretty crazy and the Joker is so much more known as a villain than Bane which is such an obscure character. So the question just arises what way you can go, because most people don’t know **** about Batman except for the nerds and they know too much.
CB: You got both and you got a bold actor right here. Tom (Hardy) goes the distance, Tom goes way beyond what most other actors would do. And so be bold and respect Chris in his decisions and be bold and you’ve got a hell of an actor here that has created a phenomenon, a villain that stands by itself.

Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Joe will be presenting exclusive The Dark Knight Rises footage at the MTV Movie Awards on June 3rd.
It’s a shame Tom can’t attend or we would have had the full TDKR boys line up.
I’m a huge Batman fan. I love all the comics, the animated series ect. I will admit Nolan’s first two movies were adequate and much better than what I was expecting. After all no one believed that Heath Ledger could be anything more than a pretty face.
I do not have high expectations for this…
1. Have you seen footage of her as Selina Kyle? She looks amazing. She’s nailing the character, capturing her sexuality, devil may care attitude, and moral ambiguity and playfulness. It doesnt matter whether you thought she wasn’t going to be able to do it (I’ve had my doubts too) because she did it! She knocked it out of the parl
2. They were aware of the issue in TDK, and they said his voice would be changed.
3. Nolan rewrote the character of Bane. He’s not based on Bane in the comics, but Bane’s father. Bane’s father was a revolutionary leader of a terrorist cult.
4. Have you been paying attention to the marketing at all? This story is way bigger than TDK…the grandiose of this story makes the Joker’s actions almost irnsignificant in comparison. A Revolutionary leader comes to Gotham, isolates the city from the government, leaving no entry or exit point, and forces the citizens of Gotham to partake in his personal revolution. Bane literally recreates the French Revolution on the streets of Gotham. What could possibly be bigger than that?
Thanks for responding. Like I said this was all my opinion based on what I’ve seen so far.
Yes, I have eyes. I have seen the clips of her as Selena Kyle. I simply do not see what you do. I would prefer a different, less known actress. Or just for her to tone it down. I see the Princess Diaries girl trying a bit too hard to look ‘sexy’. Of course it doesn’t matter what I think. Last time I checked I wasn’t Nolan. I was hoping for Nolan to continue his way of making the villains even darker than they were like he did with Scarecrow, Joker, and Two-face. From what I’ve seen…it doesn’t look like he’s doing any of that.
So Bane is based on his father. Why not completely make it into Bane’s father then? Oh wait. Bane is more widely known and plus there’s that extra part they get to throw in: breaking Batman’s back. Recreating the character is basically stripping it of the author’s original ideas and hard work and inserting something else that you think is going to make you the most money.
Ah yes, the marketing. Making Joker look insignificant.Tell me something, would it really be the same plot line if Ledger had lived? No, so directors do what they can. They have to ‘make Joker’s story insignificant’ to increase their ratings and how much money they get from this next movie. In all honesty how do you make the Joker insignificant? He’s practically D.C’s most popular villain.
Now for the story line: “A Revolutionary leader comes to Gotham, isolates the city from the government” Sounds to me like Joker from TDK. Twisting the cities most loved politician into a villain like himself sounds like he’s tried to do the same thing. ” leaving no entry or exit point, and forces the citizens of Gotham to partake in his personal revolution.” Once again another plot line from TDK. Remember that nifty little boat scene? Not the titanic. Where Joker forced them to play his games?
Reply if you feel so inclined. I’m very anxious to hear a rebuttal. Most fun I’ve had in ages <3
Selina looks every bit dark and serious to me. I don’t think she’s being over the top in the way she’s playing the character. My concern with Anne Hathaway was that in just about every role she is bubbly and quirky, and obviously thats not what selina is supposed to be like. I had no idea how Anne was going to repress those qualities, since they came so natural for her. But judging from the footage I;ve seen I couldn’t be anymore pleased. Her Selina is seductive, playful, and dangerous. Anne has made me take the character with utmost seriousness.
On another note, I didn’t think scarecrow and Two Face were portrayed in a great way. Two Face was written very good, and he had such a great arc in TDK, but I thought Eckhart played him in a very mediocre way.
When you put it in a general way, yes it does sound like Bane is similar to the joker. But if you look at the specifics of the story, you can see how they don’t. At the end of the day, every villain in Nolan’s franchise has been some form of a terrorist. But theyve had different intentions and means.
Joker gave the people a way out of Gotham, and although he cornered them into his social experiment game they didn’t succumb to it. Bane will succeed in breaking Gotham’s spirit, and he will succeed in recruiting people for his cause. The joker tried and failed, but Bane succeeds. This fact alone already tops him as a villain, but its HOW he achieves this that will raise him on lever far higher than the joker.
ok, this is the official runtime…no bullshit. Paul Franklin confirmed today that they finished editing the film, and it was screened for all the VFX artists. It was 3 Hours of epic filmmaking.
Get ready folks. Nolan is taking us for a wild ride.
